About UPVCA
Kanpur was always a regular Test Centre and had the privilege of staging various regular Test and One Day International Cricket matches at the Green Park Stadium which used to be compared as one of the best Grounds in the international Cricket arena. Due to certain technicalities and differences between the U P Cricket Association (UPCA) and Sports Department of U P Government, the regular Test and ODI Cricket matches were shifted from Kanpur to other places like Ahmedabad etc. The cricket lovers starting suffering from the shifting of regular cricket matches. The future of Test and ODI matches in Kanpur due to the changes of office bearers in Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) and also due to internal politics in UP Cricket Association (UPCA) and mud-slinging of the office bearers on each other which created a vacuum in a regular Test Cricket Centre.
At the juncture UP Veterans Cricket Association (UPVCA) came forward to fill up the vacuum by providing an international Veteran Cricket Matches for which a series of 4 ODI matches were planned in December 2005 in the country.
